Resource for the new generation...'Xennial' Farmers
Agriculture is the largest industry in Virginia. Agricultural tourism, or agritourism, in Virginia is part of growing Virginia’s “new economy”. It is a way for the small farmer to supplement income and keep the farm in business, while at the same time providing hands-on educational and recreational opportunities for the public. The premise is similar to ecotourism in that it is small-scale, low-impact and education-focused. "In Virginia, agritourism is defined as any activity carried out on a farm or ranch that allows members of the general public, for recreational, entertainment, or educational purposes, to view or enjoy rural activities, including farming, wineries, ranching, historical, cultural, harvest-your-own activities, or natural activities and attractions"
